Confessional Friday

Confessional Friday Link up with Leslie @ A Blonde Ambition.

1. I confess that I am SO tired of staying in hotels.  I feel like we have been stuck in hotels forever.  I hate living out of a bag and am too OCD and weird to unpack all of our stuff into the drawers and closets here.  I am trying to just be thankful that we have the hotel to stay in while we wait on our house to be ready.  No more negative nancy ;)

2. I confess that I will probably have another iced chai today.  I have literally gotten one every day this week.  (except for Monday.)  I used to be a Starbucks queen.  Now I'm a Port City Java Queen.  They make it with almond milk. oh.em.gee

3. I confess that I really miss watching Gossip Girl on Netflix.  All of our stuff is somewhere? with the movers.  Not really sure where but I miss indulging in my fav shows.

4.  I confess that I am very happy with Stevie's new school.  She really loves it and I do too.  She was even bummed that the weekend is coming up.  So thankful that she is happy there and making new friends.

5. I confess that I am DYING to change my hair.  I have been for like 7 months but refused to pay California prices.  I have a new idea in my head every day but can't seem to decide on one.  Do I keep it long or chop it off? keep it brown or add heavy highlights? ombre? red? I just don't know but I'm bored with it.

Thats all for now lovies.

Wednesday Wine-Down

Our life has literally taken a 180 these past couple weeks.  So let me just break it down for ya.

We had initially planned to leave San Diego February 11th but Stevie had a Valentines performance at school on the 12th and really didn't wanna miss that so we stayed until the 14th.

(also on the 12th we had people come pack up our house.  oh.em.gee can you say stressed.  I was not a fan of having someone else pack up my things.  I like knowing where EVERYTHING is at all times.)

The 13th we just got the rest of our things in order (this was also Stevie's last day of school here.)

Goodbye Navy!!!!!

One last stop at our favorite Starbucks in SD.

Side note: Leaving San Diego was a very bittersweet thing for our family.  It had truly grown to be "home" to us.  Stevie was very upset about leaving her school, home, and friends.  It was an emotional thing for me as well.  I didn't wanna leave our house, and all the things San Diego has to offer..... but we felt like this move was the best thing for us.

Okay so the 14th was an absolutely CRAZY day.  We flew out of San Diego at 6 am and were supposed to be at our destination by 9 that night.  Well after our flight in San Francisco was delayed by a couple hours, we missed our connecting flight in Chicago to Charlotte.  ( I think that flight may have been canceled anyways because of all the snow)
I was expecting to fly out Saturday morning but they didn't reschedule us until SUNDAY at 9pm.  After multiple lines, phone calls and inner meltdowns we finally just accepted the fact  that we were stuck in Chicago until Sunday.  And even though we were stuck in a hotel we had a lot of fun just lounging around together as a family.

Goodbye San Diego

The girls last pics in SD.

Walking to the plane and Journi's first time flying. (2/14/2014)

Journi in the San Fran airport.  (11 months on this day.)

Stevie's "I'm so mad we are stuck in Chicago" faces

Finally headed home.

We spent the next couple days at my parents house and had a huge family gathering  which was a lot of fun.

We headed for the coast the next day in search of a home.  After not finding anything and absolutely wanting to give up we found the PERFECT house for us.  A HUGE fenced in back yard, a patio, a front porch, a long driveway,  a big front yard, 3 bedrooms, 2 bath, in a nice development and less than a mile from the perfect school for Stevie.  My heart was so so happy.  (and still is.)  We can't move in for another week and a half so we are in an extended stay hotel.  (if you know me-you know i despise hotels.  I'm much too big of a germ freak for all the nastiness that comes with a hotel but we found a really nice one with a kitchen and all-so I'm dealing. haha.

Stevie has started school and absolutely loves it (Thank You Lord!!!!!)

we are absolutely LOVING living here and can't wait to see what all it has to offer for our family.

Sorry for the long stretch between blogs but things have been SO hectic.  I will be back with another post soon though :)

Confessional Friday. GETTING TO KNOW YOU MORE.

What's your middle name?
Kathryn

If you could live anywhere else in the world, where would you live?
Other than somewhere in the US I would pick Ireland.  It's so beautiful and historical looking.

If I were to choose somewhere else in the US, I would choose Northern California-wine country.

Tell us about your guilty pleasures? Venti Iced Soy Chai from Starbucks.  OH.MY.GOODNESS.  I try to only go about twice on the weekends but every time I pass a Starbucks (which is about every quarter mile in Southern California) I hear it calling my name.)  OBSESSED.

4. What do you like best about your job? If you weren't doing that, what career would you have pursued? I have been a stay at home mom the past four years, and honestly I can't see myself doing anything else.  Nothing makes me happier than seeing my babies all day every day and not missing anything.

I do however hope to one day have my own natural cosmetics line.  Spray tans, lip products, foundation, eye shadow, bronzer, concealer.  You name it, I want it.  And it being "natural" and not full of horrible chemicals is also very important to me.

5. Five items you'd grab during a fire. (People and pets don't count. Those are a given.)
-Baby Crying (my doll I have had since my very first Christmas)
-Cheezer (my stuffed dog I have had since I was about 4.)
-The girls baby books.
-my purse/wallet
-my planner (I write lots of important things in it)

6. Marathon running...something you'd like to pursue or just plain crazy?
Just.Plain.Crazy.

7. If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?
My mom's chicken pie and macaroni.  Always been one of my favorites.

8. Last person you spoke to...annnnnd....go!
Journi.

9. Favorite childhood toy
Baby Crying and Cheezer as mentioned above ;)

10.  Favorite Cereal of Choice
Pumpkin Flax Granola with a scoop of peanut butter and a scoop of Strawberry jelly. oh.em.gee.  I eat it every single day.

Valentines Hair Tutorial

Tis the season for hearts, hugs, kisses, candy and LOVEly hair.

I love show stopper hair and wanted to get adventurous with Stevie's for Valentines. Thought I would share.

Make sure the hair is good and brushed out.  Braiding is MUCH harder with tangly hair.

part the hair wherever you prefer (we parted it on the side) and then from there part down to behind the ear. (this was the section with the most hair after the initial part)

Dutch braid that hair all the way down.

part the other half down to behind the ear and then part down the middle.  This should make two even sections.

secure each of those sections with a rubber band and topsy tail them the OPPOSITE way you typically would.  (if you don't have a topsy tail you can use your fingers.  Just loosen the rubber band/hair bow a little bit first, make a hole with your finger and flip the hair through.)  You will be flipping the hair towards the face.

Grab half of the front section you have in the rubber band and half of the back rubber banded section and twist them together.  I got Stevie to hold that twist while I twisted together the other side.

Pull them around to form a heart shape and secure with a rubber band.

The heart shape will go a little funky.  Just reshape it and secure each side with a bobby pin.

Part the back down the middle and dutch braid those two sections.  (the side that the heart is on I incorporated the remainder of that hair into the braid.)

I took the first braid and brought it to the back and secured it with one of those braids at the nape of the neck.

Of course I finished it off with a red bow.

This took me about 20 minutes because I was making it up as I go and needed time to think.  Give or take a minute or two for yourself :)

You're left with a stylish Valentines hair do.  Hope you enjoy.

Weekend Shenanigans

Our "fun family weekends" have been rather limited lately due to daddy's crazy work schedule and since we finally had a Saturday together we made the absolute best of it.

2-1-14
We started the morning off at our favorite breakfast place here.  One of the many things I will definitely miss when we move, but let's face it-those hole in the wall bakeries/diners are everywhere.  Let's just hope we can find one that lives up to this ones standards.

We finally took Daddy to visit Cabrillo National Monument and we had an absolute BLAST.  (Stevie and I had been here a couple years back with my dad but it was a must for us to visit again before we move.)

Here we are hanging out at the monument.  If you look to the left you can see downtown San Diego and to the right is downtown Tijuana.  Pretty cool and the view is absolutely beautiful.

We went to the TINY lighthouse next and walked around there.

After the light house we headed to the tide pools which was everyones favorite part.

We got to see a starfish which was pretty cool.  We were told they are usually found further out in the ocean so we enjoyed that.

Mama spotted this big piece of kelp and after the woman that works there saw how grossed out I was after touching it she was sure to let me know it was in my beauty products and lots of other household items ;)

While at the tide pools Stevie was VERY adventurous.  If you know Stevie, you know she's BEYOND girly and not such a fan of getting dirty and she's rather timid when it comes to new things like this.  So watching her climb the rocks and look underneath them for crabs was such a joy to see.  She even took a little spill and soaked her tennis shoes so on our way to dinner we had to stop and buy a pair of flip flops. (which were about 2 sizes too big but the only thing they had in her size were crocs and Stevie would have rather walked around bare foot)

For dinner we went to our favorite burger place in Ocean Beach (Hodad's)
If you watch Diner's Drive In's and Dives it's been featured on there-twice.  We made sure to go there once more before we moved, and we even got a milkshake on the house :)

2-2-14

Daddy has duty so we are just hanging around the house and gonna watch bits and pieces of the super bowl.  (let's face it, neither Stevie or I enjoy sports and Journi's too young to care.)
But on that note:
LET'S GO BRONCOS.
(And by Broncos I obviously mean "Let's go Eric Decker")

Anywho, off to get our Sunday Starbucks and to hopefully get in the mood to pack because we are running out of days to do so.

Hope everyone had a fabulous weekend.

Xx
